My Students

Because ping pong is the number one brain sport, my students want the opportunity to develop their brains, hand-eye coordination, and team skills at the tennis table. They will take their talents to weekly club time in an after school setting that has never been offered before at our school.

My students are hard-working and deserve to play hard too.

They read thousands of minutes each year in their read-a-than and thrive in arts and music programs. The school's new addition included a gymnasium when before they were taught in a converted lunchroom space. Their hard-working PTA has begun an after school program that includes clubs and clinics that teachers want to advise. Table tennis is just one of the athletic offerings in this dynamic program. It will fit in the small spaces of my urban school, but will loom large in their hearts as they learn this Olympic sports.

My Project

Hand-eye coordination, cardio, grip exercises--these are just the physical changes my students will undergo. Team play, sharing, and learning a game that they have never played before or can't play at home will maintain enthusiasm. The tables, racquets and balls are necessary for the program.

Brain research shows ping pong enhances brain activity and improves attention span more than any other sport.

Strategy, fine motor skills and memory functions improve too. Each match provides improvement in these areas. Add to that the aspect of committing time to a club and exercise regiment. Results are sure to show in other areas of learning.
