Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My co-teacher and I teach a 3rd grade ENL class in a Title I-funded public school in New York City. My students predominantly come from Hispanic backgrounds, where Spanish is the dominant language spoken at home. My students are always excited to learn new things. They face challenges in learning the English language. However, they are willing to learn and do their best daily. As an ELL teacher, I have worked with my students for multiple years, and I always love to see the growth in their academics from year to year.

This month we went on our first field trips of the school year to a local museum and zoo.

I was taking pictures with my camera and my students wanted to use my camera to take their own pictures. As we have upcoming trips, I'd love for my students to document our adventures through their eyes. This will allow students to be responsible for their own camera and document what they wish of our field trips. They will receive copies of their pictures.
