My Students

Picture us learning! All schools are experiencing budget cuts. We should not let this affect student achievement. My students need a digital camera to make learning more interesting, meaningful and fun!

I teach in an elementary school that is filled with enthusiastic teachers and learners!

Currently, I teach 49 fantastic fourth graders. All of the students are very eager to learn. All learners do not learn from paper and pencil alone. Many students need meaningful hands on activities to grasp difficult concepts or content. In order to help students be successful in the classroom, they need supplies and materials that teachers can use to aid in the learning process. It is sad to say that the economy has taken a toll on school budgets and the pockets of teachers. The completion of this project will allow me to plan projects in class that will foster student achievement.

My Project

I always forget my personal camera when "aha" moments or spur of the moment mini lessons and activities arise. As a result, I find myself sending a student to another teacher's room to borrow his/her camera (if it's at school). The school has two digital cameras but with so many people using the cameras, it is a lot of wear and tear on equipment. The cord or SD card is usually missing or not available. By donating to this project, my students will have immediate access to a digital camera to use for group work and projects during math, science, and social studies. I plan to have the class complete a class cookbook that will incorporate math. They will take pictures of their creations. Students will also upload pictures for presentations in science and social studies. The students love to display their work in the hall to share with others in the school.

Using a digital camera in the classroom will make the learning process more fun, meaningful, and interesting to the students.

It will make so much of the curriculum more real to the students and allow them to express their creativity through photographs in their projects.
