This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A Chinese proverb states, “Tell me and I will forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I will understand.” This proverb serves as the foundation to my pedagogy. I currently work at a diverse Montessori school that works diligently to provide students with 21st century learning skills especially in STEM. Unfortunately due to budget cuts, access to technology in the classroom has diminished and is minimal. My students come from diverse households that are active and committed to their academic success. They are hard workers who daily welcome rigor and absorb technology. Most importantly, they are dedicated to the success of our school. My students enjoy interactive learning and cherish our Montessori principles.
My Project
Incorporating a document camera into my English and Social Studies classroom will deeper students understanding of texts, writing skills and participation. A document camera would solidify my classroom as a student-centered space that would allow students to become an expert, demonstrator and teacher to the class.
For example, instead of the writing paragraphs and getting feedback from myself or a classmate; students can present to the class and provide/ receive diverse feedback from each other.
This transforms students mentality towards learning.A document camera would assist to challenge learning as not only something a student does and teacher shows. The teacher/student roles become multi-dimensional
Sharing and demonstrating work also enhances students character and elevates the learning environment to a space that truly centers on them.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
