My Project

I have been working at B.G. Elementary School with English Language Learners for 9 wonderful years. Recently, my school had an influx of amazing Arabic students ranging from grades 3 through 5. I have seen how visual dictionaries can positively affect my Spanish speaking students learn English. I am confident that the Arabic options will help us grow even more!

Visual supports are one of the most valuable and useful tools for second language learners.

Visuals are important for English language learners because they reduce student anxiety, increase comprehension, and can even help them with decoding. The use of visual aids and multimedia can build ELLs' self-confidence by helping them absorb the content and become interactive in the classroom.

B.G. Elementary is a low income school in East New York Brooklyn with a temporary housing rate above 30 percent. My students are bright, energetic, and eager to learn English. In order to help them succeed, they need the appropriate tools.
