My Students

Bullying is an epidemic that gets yearly press around the world as students return to school and begin to torture one another. Films and photographs are created to discourage bullying behavior, but, how many are made by children?

My students, like kids all over the world, are in love with technology!

They are energetic and enthusiastic learners when given the right learning tools to maintain their motivation. They constantly seek opportunities to challenge their intellect. My school is a Title 1 campus with high poverty and limited access to new technology, like student digital cameras. I can already see the excitement in their eyes as I introduce them to a new way of learning and an opportunity to document the world around them.

My Project

The book Bullying in Schools will serve as a detailed accounting of the negative long term effects of bullying behavior. I hope this will build empathy amongst my students towards those victimized by bullies. The digital cameras with memory cards will give my students the opportunity to capture images around their school that show positive actions of teamwork, friendship, and respect. These images can then be featured in student created, anti-bullying newsletters, pamphlets, and on our school website. These tasks will inform and empower my students to safely stand up to a bully when and if they are ever targeted.

All children need to feel that school is a safe haven.

We must empower them to work and play together in a respectful manner. My students' published work will deliver a strong message that there is no place for bullying at our school! I believe this message coincides with the vision of Townsend Press in eradicating bullying in our schools. Your support is appreciated.
