My Students

My second grade students are eager to increase their reading skills this year. I love seeing their eyes light up with excitement during our literacy block and I want to have that excitement continue throughout the year.

My students come from a low income area, and I want to make sure that their educational environment is rich and of high quality, which is what they need and deserve.

This classroom of students is very motivated to complete their work in areas of the room that offer them the ability to better concentrate, be comfortable, and engaged.

My Project

Using these materials, my students will be able to engage in their learning and complete their writing assignments in a manner that is more comfortable to them and that gives them a sense of independence.

Teaching aspiring journalists and writers to be more independent thinkers and writers is important in preparing them for their future endeavors.

Following our whole group writer's workshop lessons, students may return to their desks to complete their writing, or they may use the cushions and clipboards to create a mobile desk. Our focus in writing is creating strong opinion pieces. I want my students to know that it is important to state and express their opinions, just like many journalists do in the newspapers and media.
