My Students

Two of my three classes includes special needs students. Disabilities range from dyslexia to language impairment. Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend, and our school also has over 70% free or reduced-priced lunches.

Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.

I want to help them stay organized and control of their own learning.

My Project

I have chosen a couple of floor seats and lap desks to allow students the opportunity to work at a place other than their table. There are many opportunities during class that students can grab a novel and read for enjoyment. They also have the opportunity to work with a partner on a project and sometimes its nice to move to a comfortable spot on the floor to get deep into work.

Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength.

In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused.
