Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In my Spanish class we are learning about the culture in places that are Spanish speaking. One of the projects I like to do with my High School students is for them to create and design a piñata and they learn the cultural aspects of piñatas.

My goals for this project are the following: Students will use their creativity to create a design for a mini piñata and then collaborate with 2-3 people in creating a mini piñata.

During our piñata building students will be using all the material I asked for: blank paper where students will be creating their design, then we will use cardboard that we recycle from our school, then I will teach them the steps and we will then transfer the design to cardboard and then use our glue gun to have all pieces together, than with the creativity of each student they will choose the tissue paper they need and the color they require and use that. A few students might paint instead of using tissue paper.

Finally, we will have students present each design and tell us the process of making piñatas, and the cultural aspect of piñatas.
