My Project

We use personal sized keyboards a lot in the BES music room! Younger students use them at stations to explore different sound effects, learn note names, and to experience playing a piano for the first time. In 5th grade, we have an entire unit dedicated to learning how to play the piano! We learn songs together as a class, and as a final project, students get to pick their own song to teach themselves to cater to their own personal interests.

Currently, I just barely have enough pianos for an entire class set - and not all of them work.

Some of them will randomly turn off while students are playing, some are staticy, and some don't make any sound at all! I am looking to get 8 new pianos to replace the ones I cannot fix, allowing students to be one-to-one with actual working instruments.

The students at BES are wonderfully amazing, and they deserve the entire world. Unfortunately, instruments are incredibly expensive, and buying new ones is always a challenge. I would love to be able to provide these pianos for my students so they can all have their own piano to play that won't randomly turn off on them.
