Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a school, where most students recieve free lunch. Parents as well face daily challenges that affect the children. These students face many challenges daily, and are not afforded alot of the resources that most of us as adults were even given as children. I believe that if given the opportunity these children will thrive. Music is a great conduit for children to grow. However, they need resources in the classroom. Giving whatever you can to impart on these deserving children would be appreciated and treasured.

My Project

Students will be exposed to learning piano basics. They will be taught on a more personal learning style where they will be able to learn piano techniques, theory, and performance. Students will be learning out of the James Bastien learning series. Series that I was trained as a beginner. Students will be exposed to Western European music. Most students I teach have never had the chance to have a private lesson. They will study musical styles from composers from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century.Opening students to a skill they will have for a lifetime. I believe that this chance to gain piano skills will also help on other curriculum areas.
