My Project

I believe that the fastest way to make meaningful change in our society is for our population to be comprised of educated individuals who can evaluate scenarios critically and make decisions based on the evidence before them. These are not easy abilities to develop and master and it takes considerable effort to become proficient in such skills.

My goal is for all of my students to understand that they need to approach life with an unbiased attitude, develop the ability to critically assess the choices that they make, learn from the failures, and reflect on the outcomes of their actions; I just happen to use a physics classroom as the medium to help them achieve this.

Learning is not a passive experience. The more active and engaged the participants are, this includes mentally, collaboratively, and physically, the greater the educational return on the experiences that they have in life.

My role as a physics teacher is not limited to helping them understand basic physics principles. My role is to fill their time spent in our class with such engaging and thought-provoking challenges that they leave motivated to proactively seek out new learning experiences that allow them to continue to grow both socially and intellectually.

In order to accomplish this, I regularly need materials that are atypical for a standard physics classroom. Mundane equipment will often lead you to incur mundane experiences. The bow and arrow sets will be used to study kinematics in our course. The Suspend games will be utilized to study rotational motion in a competition setting. The materials requested in this project will help me ensure that my students participate in memorable and meaningful learning experiences that will teach them skills that will serve them well long after they leave our classroom.
