Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students do not have much money and neither does my school. The students don't get to experience science outside of school. This project will help them explore and learn more about science, as well as develop other skills, in a fun way.

My students are awesome.

They are smart, funny, great kids who don't have much in terms of financial resources. 95% of the students qualify for free lunch and the school system lacks funding. Students don't get to do these kinds of projects often. They want, and need, to have these kinds of experiences.

My Project

I have requested model rocket supplies for a major project for the students. They will get to develop and apply teamwork, communications, problem solving, and physics skills and knowledge as they design, build, analyze and calculate physics, and launch rockets. They do calculations to predict the altitude the rocket should reach and then measure the actual altitude with trigonometry. They will have fun, experience something new, and learn! It is a great project.

My students need to see that science is fun.

This project shows them how fun and exciting science is, while helping them learn physics and apply things they have learned in class to a real project. It is fun, exciting, and educational.
