This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a small neighborhood school of over 400 students in the Bronx, NY. 50 % of the population of students at our school live in poverty. My classroom space is very limited and is in a multipurpose room (students eat breakfast, lunch and have PE all in the same place), requiring that I become very creative with space to ensure everyone gets the most physical activity possible. Students will have physical education either once or twice a week. Which is far below the recommended 5 days a week a the elementary level. My students are full of bright energy bringing excitement to their learning about their wellness when they do get to come to class.

My Project

My students need an apple iPad as a way to visually see videos of locomotor movements and other skills. This will be utilized in small groups at stations in order to analyze their movements and skills. It will allow for them to provide feedback and to make proper adjustments.

With only 45min a week of physical education we need to get the most physical literacy out of every minute.

My students are eager to become more physically literate. The use of an iPad will take the students to the next level of analyzing their skills. They will be able to utilize video as well as applications through this technology giving them an advantage during their work with small groups.
