Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students come from low-income families and 94% receive free or reduced lunch. They are taught the Common Core standards through a vigorous and rounded curriculum. Every student takes math, physical education, science, English, and history. Students participate in a variety of extracurricular opportunities and events throughout the year, including clubs. Moreover, the majority of our students attend our after-school program to get homework help and tutoring

Our students show incredible perseverance, tenacity, courage, and the will to be resilient through adversity.

My Project

We are a charter school with limited outdoor space. Our students do not have access to a field, gym, or courts. Our students exercise on asphalt. This is not only uncomfortable but also it can be a safety issue. These mats will protect our students from injuries while doing high impact activities and movements. Mats will decrease the severity of an accident while doing activities like push-ups, sit-ups, and stretching.

With limited resources at our school, these yoga mats will provide students with a comfortable space to complete activities outdoors.

Although our students come from low income communities, they contribute so much to our school. Our students have shown incredible perseverance, courage and tenacity, despite not having the proper equipment. Our students deserve the highest quality education. Help me improve their experience in school.

As an educator of Health and Physical Education, I strive to teach the importance of a healthy lifestyle. My passion is to teach students healthy habits, so they can have a better quality of life. I emphasize fitness, balanced nutrition, and safety with all my students.
