Help me give my students bean bags, balls, poly spots & giant hops to start PE in our new school building this year! These are items that will be used consistently in our PE games.
The items I am asking for are visual as well as tactile. My Pre-K, Kinder, 1st grade & 2nd grade students are able to use the bean bags, and poly spots with the numbers on them to match up with math games we play in PE. When they are successful with recognizing their numbers, it gives them so much self confidence in the classroom. The tennis balls, bean bags with letters on them, and giant hops will be used specifically for games in stations that have to do with matching up letters to their sounds. They will use the giant hops to hop to the cones that match the sound to the letter. They will roll, toss or throw the tennis ball at the target with the correct letter. Stations allow kids to attempt activities that they may not have tried because they were worried they would mess up in front of a larger class.
My goals for the project are for my PE students to feel successful in the gym, with their peers, and have it carry into the classroom.
PE is an opportunity to put down the electronics, and explore other ways of learning. The proper tools is all these students need.
I know my students are special, and I haven't even met them yet. This is a new school building, and I have the amazing opportunity to connect with these kids for the first time this school year. What makes them special is that they are young, energetic, and excited to learn in new ways. Of course I am predicting this, but I know in my heart this is accurate.
