Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I high school in a priority district. All of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My classroom is a mixed grade-level, as well as a mixed academic-level classroom.

Therefore, my class includes English Language Learners, special education students, a large range of academic abilities, and many students who come from a struggling economic environment. These struggles have led to an increase in failing classes and students not attending school. And, often when these students do attend, they are extremely disengaged.

Our students, like all students, deserve learning opportunities and access to information to help them become successful, contributing members of society. Our students are full of passion, energy, and excitement. They take pride in their successes, especially when overcoming obstacles. They are always very excited to try new technology, but have extremely limited means to do so since most live around the poverty line. And, I take pride and joy in the challenge of finding ways to meet their personal needs to help them achieve.

My Project

Please help me aid my students in finding the spark that will engage them in the classroom. My students need reasons to keep them motivated in the classroom and to just attend school. They have difficulty remaining engaged in their classes and attending school regularly. These materials will give my students options when they are feeling disconnected and disengaged in school. Students will use creativity as a reason to remain in class and engaged in school. This 50mm lens with lens pouch and bag partition will open the up the world of portrait photography for my students by allowing them new technological experiences. With this new equipment will be able to photograph people using an f stop of 1.4 which will allow them to control the depth of field 10 times more than we are capable of now with our current lenses. This project will take their love of technology and redirect it into a new and challenging learning experience which will ultimately yield innovative learning for them.
