My Project

I am an elementary art teacher and a professional photographer/videographer. My students and I live in a rural part of the Big Island of Hawai'i. Our school is the oldest elementary school on the island. We are striving to give each student a sense of belonging and cultivate a love for learning here at our school.

One way of giving students a deeper understanding of who they are, where they come from and their roll as students and stewards of the land, is through preservation, creating photo/video documentations.

Having access to cameras and instant film will allow the students to create images for the yearbook and videos for special projects they are working on in the digital arts domain.

Your generosity and consideration will open up new opportunities for students to learn about portrait photography, landscape photography, macro photography, and journalistic photography. This will enhance their sense of belonging at school and in our community.
