My students need one digital SLR camera and four card readers to learn the basic mechanics of photography, to photograph their hand-crafted artworks, and to learn to use a camera for their own photography.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I have the best students a teacher could ever ask for. My students are creative, smart, kind, and very much a family. Living in a lower income rural area of south west Alabama; "arts & culture" are not a priority at home.
My students' eyes and minds are open to learning all that the world will allow!
They are learning more than what to think; they are learning to think for themselves. They are learning to create, to express themselves and to see the world with their own eyes.
These students are working hard to become responsible and productive grown ups. They, like all kids have road blocks that they have to learn to get around or overcome, but we are working together to make that happen.
My Project
Currently, my students are using their cell phones and mine to practice photography. These AP Art students submit digital photos of their art for review. The DSLR camera will enable them to take better photographs. Additionally, they will be able to learn the real mechanics of a single reflex lens and the science of photography. Finally, they will also be able to add photography to their list of media.
A new professional digital camera would give students a tool to highlight their artistic accomplishments with the honor and respect they deserve.
We have already raised money through box tops for a lighting kit that we will be able to put to use. Additionally, the students won an art contest and will use those funds to purchase Photoshop to further the technological connection with a digital camera and art.
