As a teacher in a Title I district, my students come from several diverse backgrounds. Living in a small town with with only one school district means that my students' socioeconomic backgrounds range from very low income to very high income. This makes it a little more challenging to meet everyone's needs.
I use positive reinforcement in my classroom in order to focus on the good things my students are doing.
Although some of my students may be extremely different from one another, they are able to show respect for each other when they enter our room.
I want school to be a place where every student feels safe and equally valued no matter what their life at home may be like.
I always tell my students that we are a family and we have to care for one another. When I see them forming new relationships with peers, doing the right thing in difficult situations, or even just helping a neighbor out on a difficult math problem, it makes me proud to be their teacher.
My Project
We absolutely love taking pictures in our classroom. I'm always snapping photos of the kids in action. I currently post pictures on for the student's parents to see, but I would love to be able to actually print some of those photos to display in our classroom.
Having a portable photo printer will help students capture memories, build a portfolio, and personalize projects.
I plan on displaying photos of my students in the classroom to create a stronger sense of belonging. The refill paper will help to ensure that we can share photos all year!
The supplies I'm requesting will get daily use in my classroom. The dry erase spots will be placed on my small group table, and the kids will love using the neon Expo markers and new erasers to show their work. Lamination sheets and cardstock are essential items for prepping student activities. Magnetic tape will allow students to create their own electrical circuits that they can take home!
