My Students

I work with enthusiastic learners that benefit from hands-on manipulation of materials and experiences to increase their listening and language skills. I am an outreach teacher of the deaf. I support students in their mainstream classrooms to access language and communication. I work with students from preschool to high school in this role. I also consult with teachers about practices that are beneficial for the student in their class based on their specific hearing loss.

Many of my students struggled to hear sounds correctly due to COVID-19 mask mandates in their classrooms.

Students need more practice than ever with basic phonological awareness materials as well as language-building materials to optimize their learning.

My Project

I am a traveling teacher and take the classroom and materials to my students. These materials allow me to target the individual needs of my students. These materials and kits are perfect to meet the needs of several of my students.

Students with any type of hearing loss struggle to hear subtle differences in words and sounds.

This can impact their reading, spelling, and most of all their comprehension. I have asked for the Phonemic Awareness Centers, Build a Word, Ending Sounds, and Word Building Bins to target those subtle differences.

I have also asked for items that build students' overall language skills including Storytelling Kits, Storytelling Puppets, English Language Development Centers and Cards, as well as the Social-Emotional Storytelling kits and books. Books are an amazing way to share rich vocabulary with students. It allows them to ask and answer questions, look at illustrations, talk about their own experiences and the kits allow students to interact with the story.
