Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

All of my students desire to learn to become fluent readers. My students are struggling readers and they would love to have these activities and books that will support their everyday needs as they yearn to learn and explore the skill of reading.

I have 32 ELLs (English Language Learners) and they always love the opportunity to learn and put sounds together.

These phonics activities will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My ELLs need a lot of support with visuals and these activities and books will help them as they strive to become independent readers. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. I read to them in our meeting area, many complete work there, and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunity to read. All of these books and phonics activities have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched them in school trying so hard to stretch out words and read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to complete these phonics activities and then choose books to read, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
