Our first-grade class consists of 21 very diverse, amazing students. Our school is a Title I school, with many of my students receiving free or reduced-price lunches. They love to come to school, as school is a safe and fun learning environment. My students are faced with many challenges at school and at home. Our district is in a financial crisis, which has tremendously reduced our staff and school budget. At home, our students face poverty, hunger, homelessness, and countless other difficulties. Many of my students are raised by grandparents, foster parents, or other family members.
With the many challenges that face my young students, it is imperative that I provide them with fun, meaningful learning experiences.
They need a positive classroom environment that promotes a desire for lifelong learning builds friendships and a safe place to take risks! I strive for my classroom to be a place where students can be creative and take risks.
My Project
A Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will allow me to purchase phonics-based readers for my small groups. These skill-based readers align with our reading curriculum. The phonics skill targeted in each reader will help strengthen my students' phonics and reading skills.
Please consider donating to my project to help my young learners be successful in reading.
The money will be used to purchase teacher-created phonics resources that can be utilized during small group times. The resources are engaging, fun, and appropriately aligned to our standards. Please help to brighten our day by donating today!
