My Students

Reading is the most powerful tool I give to my students to help them be successful in life. We work on reading, and especially phonics, every single day. I need your help to put quality phonics tools in students' hands to give them the extra practice they so desperately need to be successful!

My students are mostly low-income, minority students in a Title I school.

They are in Kindergarten and First Grade. They come to me with little to no life experiences, including the experience of loving good books. However, they also come to me yearning to learn to love good books. They spend every minute that they are with me immersed in quality literature and quality literacy experiences. I try to put books in their hands as much as possible and give them as many tools as I can to aid in their journey of learning to read. They want to be successful, in spite of their circumstances outside of school, and they are ALL very capable of doing just that!

My Project

My students need magnetic word builders, sound-it-out phonics puzzles, and two sets of fill-in-the-blank phonics stamps to help them improve their decoding skills. In order to become successful readers, my students need engaging, fun practice with phonics every single day. Right now, our classroom has very limited materials to provide this practice. The magnets, stamps, and puzzles that your donation can help provide are bright, colorful, and FUN! My students will be running over each other to be the first ones to use them! These materials will give them a variety of ways to practice the very basic, yet very crucial, phonics skills they must master in kindergarten and first grade. These materials will also allow me to work with small groups of children, as the majority of my class will be highly engaged and working independently.

I can't supply these materials without your help! My students need them to become better readers, and they need to become better readers to be successful in life! Please help me help my students reach their full potential!
