My first graders are awesome! They are explorers, and they are constantly on the move. I constantly emphasize the importance of being safe, being kind, being respectful, and being responsible each day in our little classroom. I work with 18 amazing and hardworking students who are extremely eager to learn, participate, and support each other's learning throughout the day.
Our school is a Title I school that serves many military families that are connected to Fort Bragg, and 100% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
We are a low-wealth district in Cumberland county.
My class is full of students with a variety of interests, experiences, needs, and strengths. With the resources, structure, and the need to apply their curiosity, they will continue to develop into strong learners and balanced individuals. I may not be able to control their home lives, but I really try to provide meaningful and memorable experiences for them every day.
First grade is the year for learning to read. My class needs a variety of phonics resources that support the required standards for phonics instruction and support the Science of Reading applications.
The understanding of phonics is the most important building block in creating a foundation for reading.
The phonics games that I am requesting will help my students to catch on to these foundational skills in no time! My students need as much letter, sound, word, and sentence practice as possible. Repetitive exposure to phonics that is already quite challenging can become tedious and boring. The Touch and Read games and the Word Family flipbooks will help ensure that phonics practice is as repetitive as necessary yet still be fun and exciting!
Please help me give my students these phonics resources that will keep them enthused about their learning and also help to grow their phonics and phonemic awareness skills.
Any help is appreciated!
