My Project
The various phonics and math games will be a great addition to extend both math and phonics skills into independent practice through fun! Students love to play games and sometimes don't even realize all the benefits they are getting when they are having so much fun.
Additionally, the Secret Stories materials are ideal for “hands-on” manipulative activities and are used in both small and whole group instruction, literacy centers, resource settings, one-on-one tutoring/volunteer work, etc.
The large Secret Stories posters will be used to display in the classroom. I have been using Secret Stories for several years and it is so beneficial for students. They love the stories that help them learn how to spell and sound out words.
The materials in this project align with Nevada Academic Content Standards for both ELA and Math. The ELA materials lend to Reading Foundations 1 & 2 phonological awareness and phonics and word recognition, which will in turn lead to Reading Foundations fluency standards.
The math games align with Nevada Academic Content Standards, 1.OA.A Represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction.
