Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the best 5 and 6 year olds you could ever meet! They are future computer scientists, doctors, teachers, scientists, mathematicians, police officers and even future race car drivers! They are learning to understand the importance of getting college and career ready and they work really hard every day.

I work in a Title I school in a working class neighborhood.

My students are mostly ELLS and are just starting to learn English, but that doesn't stop their tenacity in learning!

My Project

Research has shown that students need to be strong in their decoding skills in order to become good readers. Good decoding makes it easier for comprehension of reading to take place.

By having decodable books and games in the classroom, it will give my students the opportunity to practice the skills that they are learning at school and at home.

Since we have blended learning schedules where the students learn part timer in school and part time at home, I feel that this will be a great way to reinforce what is being taught in a fun, exciting way.

Children love looking at books and playing games. Imagine the joy that will have when they figure out that they can actually read words on their own. Please give them a chance to learn to become good readers!
