This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Pre-kindergarten is one of the most amazing times of a child's life. It is a time for exploration and creativity. My students are full of amazing ideas and the desire to learn.
Students in this community come from low-income families; many families in this community go without the basic necessities.
I love that even with the needs they face, they are strong and full of capabilities, full of life, and full of ideas. I would like for my students to get all the materials they need in our classroom to provide a hands-on and engaging learning environment.
My Project
Phonemic awareness provides the basic foundation from students to be able to lear in kindergarten. In Pre-K we focus a lot on play and learning our letters and sounds through those means. With these materials students are able to learn the basics of phonemic awareness and move on to kindergarten with more knowledge with rhyming, blending, segmenting and building their language skills. The students now struggle with basic language requirements and with these materials it guarantees that these are practicing and building language and phoenix awareness skills. Students will also be learning new rhymes with these materials.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
