My Students

I work in a public, nationally certified STEM elementary school as the reading specialist. I share all kids on campus and they are amazing wonderers! Most of the kids have been with each other since they began their school careers and have formed great bonds with each other.

I want to keep learning relevant in their lives and need up-to-date, engaging resources to do so.

Our campus values facilitating the kids' growth in being persistent, solution-focused, service-minded, and adaptable. As the world around us is changing, so are my students' minds.

As teachers, we really work on building the skills to be successful in their futures, but I want to start building their success as engaged, responsible beings now, too.

My Project

As the reading specialist, I will meet with groups of students who have a wide range of skills. This project will fund a professional development book to give me more knowledge and skills in aiding their literacy instruction on top of fun, engaging materials.

The Osmo kits provide award-winning educational games that will allow kids to connect their learning with an iPad to practice skills in literacy and math.

Through tangible pieces, we will be able to engage young learners in a hands-on learning experience they wouldn't get in the classroom.

The additional supplies will be used to create phonics games. I plan to use the cups to create a matching game with beginning and ending parts of words. The cups will be the base and students will insert craft sticks to complete words. This will be for some of my more advanced groups.
