My Project

This project is for the Heggerty phonemic awareness primary extension curriculum and decodable readers for students grades 2-4. Phonemic awareness is an important skill readers need to learn, this will allow my student's Instruction focuses on 5 phonemic awareness skills, along with phoneme-grapheme connections: blending phonemes into spoken words, segmenting words into phonemes, adding phonemes, deleting phonemes, substituting phonemes, reversals and, phoneme-grapheme connection.

Phonemic awareness helps students with decoding what they read!

The decodable books will give my students the opportunity to practice the skills they are learning while reading. I will be teaching third graders who went to kindergarten online due to COVID, this will help them learn and practice foundational skills they may have missed out on.
