Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Third graders should be able to read. However, a third of the students in my class struggle to read and decode text as a result of kindergarten online instruction during the pandemic. Sadly, they have not been able to catch up from learning loss due to online school.

I can't send my students on to fourth grade without learning how to decode text.

This means I will be filling in those learning gaps created by the pandemic. To accomplish this, I need a magnetic white board for my small group intervention table. This whiteboard will enable me to model the reading skills we are learning. The whiteboard being portable means I will be able to use it for centers around my classroom when I am not conducting intervention groups. I am also in need of a pocket chart that can attach to the magnet board, so we can sort all types of words. Finally, a set of mini magnetic whiteboards for students to write and sort phonics words would help them internalize their learning.
