Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Learning to read can be a struggle for many students. When students aren't able to read in fourth grade, many students are embarrassed and shut down. The key to learning to read is developing students' phonemic awareness so students are able to connect sounds to letters.

Once students understand this key concept, they can "break" the code to reading and writing.

I am asking for phoneme flashcards, games so all my students, even my new to country English Language Learners, can learn the phoneme sounds of English. I asked for phonics games so once students have a solid grasp of the letter sounds of English, they can start segmenting words to learn to read. These phonemic awareness and phonics materials will really help my lowest readers master the art of teaching this year!
