Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My fifth graders are getting ready to move on to middle school. They will be leaving behind their childhood school, the majority having been here since kindergarten. They are sad, nervous, and excited at the same time. Sad to leave their childhood school behind but nervous and excited about what is coming next in middle school. Though they are leaving their elementary school, they will always be part of our school community and I hope to commemorate this through providing them with a blank t-shirt, representing their blank academic canvas as they entered kindergarten, to personalize and decorate with stories and memorable moments of their years at elementary school.

It is important for students to acknowledge, commemorate, and remember their ups and downs of elementary school as evidence that they will be able to take on the challenges of middle school.

These shirts will be ordered larger than our students current sizes so they will grow into their shirts, reflecting back on their elementary school days as they grown into their shirts, along with growing smarter and wiser. Thank you in advance for partnering with me and making it possible for me to provide these shirts for my students to decorate and personalize.
