Every day I have 20 second graders enter my room who are very eager to learn. Most of my students in my class are of Spanish descent and some of them are first generation students who are entering school for the first time. I have three beanbag chairs in my room that are old and honestly feel like they are just a lump of nothing because they are so old. Every day my students ask to sit on beanbags while they are reading. I want them all to sit on the chairs but most of my chairs are SO old they are so uncomfortable to sit on. I am asking for 4 beanbag chairs that will allow groups of students to relax and enjoy a good book. I want to make reading cozy for my students. I want them to find a quiet spot in the room with their beanbag and enjoy reading their favorite books. My hope is to create a in the classroom where children can read literature of their choice and gain a joy for reading. With new beanbags I would be able to have all my students rotate through this area throughout the day.
