This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with challenges on a daily basis both inside and outside of the classroom. Many of my students are being raised in single-parent households. They receive free breakfast and lunch as a Title I school. These are some of the factors that may prevent/hinder their chances of getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences that many of us see as "typical".
As kindergarteners, my students are eager to adjust to a larger social group, understand the world in which they live, and to develop good habits and attitudes towards themselves and others and I am here to give them that opportunity!
My Project
In order to run a successful and educational classroom, three key points are needed: Organization, classroom management, and specific learning centers to specialize in specific topics.
This is the first school experience for so many of these energetic little ones who are eager to build a foundation for learning.
Seat storage sacks and the rolling organizer will help students with personal organization. My students are in a group table setting without individual desks. The storage sacks will allow students to have their own personal space to hold their school supplies. Rolling organizers help to store and keep specific learning centers ready and accessible for quick and easy use.
The alphabet letters kit and numbers kit will be essential to include in learning centers that are provided daily.
A wireless doorbell, voice amplifier, and microphone will be essential for classroom management and to keep kindergartener’s attention. The microphone will also allow students to enhance their public speaking and communication skills.
Chart Paper will be used to create anchor charts. Anchor charts are tools to support instruction and guide students towards success.
ID holder’s/lanyards are essential for the first few weeks of school as they become familiar with being in a school setting. ID holder’s/lanyards are also very important for each child to have on our various school field trips throughout the kindergarten school year.
Headphones will enable students to work independently while keeping their attention on the computer and/or iPad intervention or assignment at hand.
By donating to this project, you will help allow my more independent students to be able to get the materials they need efficiently and spend less time looking for resources and working on their skills they are perfecting. You will also help them learn how to act as a student and to appropriately interact.
