My Students

Our Chicago school district is full of special, diverse, and unique children with needs that mirror this. Due to poor budgeting, students like mine suffer from inadequate resources like crowded classrooms and never-enough technological equipment.

My students are very eager to learn and very excited about kindergarten.

Eighty-four percent of our students come from low-income homes, and most students live in a neighborhood that is high in violence and crime. Despite their circumstances, they are ready to learn and grow this year!

My Project

Each student will need their own individualized, closed container that has items they will use each day that can be stored away from everyone else's. Students will also need an individual folder with writing paper. The boxes will be labeled and contain individual glue, crayons, pencils, scissors, and dry erase markers. The students' boxes and folders will get labeled and stored away for them to access whenever we have a small group or they want to use something that is theirs. If the school needs to move back to distance learning, the students can take their boxes home and use those materials for lessons the will require them to use fine motorskills (cutting), journal writing (pencils and crayons) and other academic activities.
