My Students

I teach in the heart of the Bronx, New York. My students come from all over the Bronx, from many different neighborhoods. They want to learn and are eager to learn. They are excited about their future!

Although growing up in poor and underserved neighborhoods, my students understand the importance of their education.

Many of my students will be the first in their families to attend and graduate college. They will be breaking cycles of poverty for their generations and also helping their communities.

My Project

Students in my district face many obstacles in their plight to make it to school on a daily basis. Coming from households where there is most often times one parent or two parents who are struggling to make ends meet, comes with an additional set of obstacles.

Students often do not have basic hygiene products such as deodorant and laundry detergent and will often miss school for fear of being bullied or feeling insecure about their clothes or poor hygiene.

These basic hygiene supplies will help me be able to provide students with what they need to maintain clean personal hygiene, improve attendance and also self-esteem.
