My students are special, little minds who receive special education services in the areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Functional Skills and Social Skills. During their day, they visit my classroom for additional support when needed. We work on many different things from all grade levels, from kindergarten to third grade.
They are nothing shy of amazing and always continue to surprise me daily.
Due to the location of our school, many of my students fall within the category of low socioeconomic status but their economic status does not hold them back from achieving greatness. Being able to supply them with the proper tools to react to their own personal frustrations, will be a great addition to their understanding and application of academic content.
My Project
Functional living skills can include so many topics but PERSONAL HYGIENE is one that is so important! I want to teach my students to brush their teeth daily, comb their hair daily and clean up their personal appearance when necessary. Tooth brushes, tooth paste, mouth wash, floss, combs, hair ties, mirrors are just a few of the items that will help make their appearances great!
So many kiddos within our school community struggle to have the correct tools to have great personal hygiene and that is why it is so important to gain these "tools" to help them succeed.
School is a great place to learn daily skills and allows students to feel safe when asking for help with obtaining those tools. I am proud to say that my students can come and ask for items to help with their daily appearance because I can do that for them. Who wants to go to work with unbrushed teeth or uncombed hair? NO ONE! School is their job and I want them to feel their absolute best when they come to work!
