Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Teaching 6th grade, I talk to my female students about their changing bodies and menstrual cycle. I assure them that this is normal and that they can function and participate fully even with their nagging period.

Many girls are already in need of hygiene products are emabarrased to ask for them when needed.

Some students have not yet gotten their period and may feel unprepared with items they may need.

I am ordering small pouches and pads for discreet storage. I have also added books girls can read to help explain changes that they may be encountering. I will discuss and share this information with parents as well so lines of communication can be opened.
