My Students

For students who have never had the opportunity to dissect something, simply the idea of it can be exciting and motivating.

The students at Western Heights Middle School in Oklahoma rarely have the opportunity to enter a science lab, let alone dissect something.

Simply talking about the possibility of dissecting something can completely change their attitudes and energy level when it comes to science. Because the students that attend Western Heights don't always have the inspiration or means to buy something that can be educational, the teachers that care about their future must take the steps to do so. These kids are clever, witty, and energetic young people and I want to give them the opportunity to do something that will excite them about school and science.

My Project

I am asking donors to purchase a Perfect Pig Dissection Kit from Carolina Biological for my students. The kit provides for 30 students, but will be split amongst 5 science classes and the students will work in groups. The students will be able to see how a mammal's body is put together and how the organization of a mammal's body is so similar across the board. I believe that the opportunity to have a dissection lab, especially with pigs, will inspire these students and excite them when it comes to school and science.

A donation to this project will make a huge impact on the lives of these students.

Knowing that there are people out there who don't even know them will show them how important education is. When it comes to students like these, I think it's important to show them that people want them to succeed and believe they can. Please donate to this project! It would be appreciated more than some may ever know!
