Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what is was like to learn about exciting people, far away places, and interesting things? My second grade students need new and exciting books, posters, and materials that will help bring social studies to life for them.

Most of my students come from low income families who, unfortunately, are not able to provide them with a lot of books or opportunities to expand their learning at home.

My students' academic abilities range from struggling reader to highly gifted. Our school is a high achieving Title One school. Most of my students are on a free or reduced cost lunch plan. Although my students are faced with many challenges, they are still extremely bright and capable of learning at an amazing speed! This is why it is very important for me to have as many visuals, books, and materials for them to be able to compete and succeed in today's world.

My Project

I am requesting a world globe, a continents of the world photo book, biography comprehension cards, land and symbols of America posters, and celebrating the holidays paperback library. These materials will change my students lives for the better because they will be able to read more about the various historical people, far away places, and interesting monuments that are in our social studies units. They will be able to work in cooperative learning groups, do research projects, and independently read more about people and places that interest them. All of the materials that I am requesting are items that will be used not only with the current class but also with future classes. These materials will inspire many second graders for many years to come.

These materials will excite and inspire my second grade students to enhance their learning about the people, places and things in our world that interest them.

They will learn more about far away geographical locations, world cultures, and famous historical people! These materials will allow my students to become interested and excited about the whole world.
