Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

RPES is a Title I school in Wilmington, DE. We are a very diverse school of about 600 students that includes a preschool, an autism program, a multilingual learning community, special education students, and more. The one unique thing that makes everyone smile in our school is our DOG, PENNY!

Penny is housed in a fourth-grade classroom.

Last year that classroom had a growth of 180% in test schools from the beginning to the end of the year. Penny visits many classrooms daily. Penny works with the positive behavior team to let students work for Puppy Playtime. This year, the goal of having Penny visits is to raise more classroom test scores. Giving students more opportunities to play with Penny outside and with toys will be helpful.

Having more toys, and outside space that Penny can play in without a leash will make it easier for students to play with her. This project will help with getting some things for students to interact with Penny more.
