Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The 4th grade students at my school are truly exceptional, bilingual learners. Since kindergarten, they have been a part of our Dual Language program that teaches them half the day in English, the other half in Spanish, with the goal of having fully bilingual students graduate in 8th grade.

My school is a Title I school in North Philadelphia.

All of my students receive free lunch and most come from immigrant families where English is not the first language. Asking parents to help fund our 4th grade needs would prove to be too much of a burden for them. Our school took a hit during the pandemic and as such is not able to provide us with the agendas we normally receive every year.

We currently have 92 students in our grade. Each and every one of them has the ability and potential to excel this year. Having an agenda will aid in their organization and development of accountability as 4th graders. Please help us reach our goal!

My Project

Our students will use the agendas to help track their homework and long term projects/goals. In our school, our 4th graders have multiple classes that all assign various tasks and projects. Normally, our school provides us with agendas for all kids in 4th-8th, but with the pandemic, funding is low and we were told we could not get them this year. Without these agendas, our students would surely be at a disadvantage.

These agendas will make a difference in our student's learning because they will help develop accountability in those students who need it most.

The agendas will travel back and forth from home to school with the students so parent engagement will also be key.
