My Students

As we embark on a new school year, this one is incredibly different than any other. With returning to traditional, in-person learning after over a year of virtual, my incoming scholars will need resources and supplies to help instruction and learning take place. The scholars I serve are from low-income families. Often times my scholars have seen and dealt with traumas. Our school community is working hard to build relationships between school-home businesses to work together to educate and grow our scholars.

This group of scholars is eager as ever to return to the normalcies of school and their learning.

I ​already know this group of scholars will be the most special group of kids I have taught in my career. Building a family community and a safe place will be crucial.

My Project

With every obstacle people all across our country and world have overcome in the past year and a half, our scholars and their learning was a major one. With this project, these materials will make a difference in reducing the stress and overwhelming feelings many of my incoming scholars will be feeling as they begin learning back in the building after over a year of virtual learning. For many of my scholars during normal times, obtaining school supplies and materials is challenging, but for many more, this year maybe even more of a challenge both for my scholars and their families.

From day one of the 2021-2022 school year, my goal is to lessen the stress on my scholars by providing all necessary materials like notebooks, lapboards, pencils, and colored pencils to allow for focus to be on adjusting back to the norms of in-person learning, social and emotional needs, and lastly, on building a strong classroom culture.
