My students need the Math Manipulative Toolboxes so that we can work in small groups more effectively. It takes awhile to pass out manipulatives, so having all items in one area will increase our learning time.

My Students

My classroom is a hub for diversity, from student's who have a military connection and have lived in a variety of places, to those with a more poverty type background, who may have never left the county. This is a multi-age classroom which includes a group of Kindergartners and First graders.

And regardless of their background, each student comes in ready to learn!

They are amazing thinkers and risk-takers, coaches to each other, and learners. Giving them opportunities to be all of the above, is my job. They are amazing!

My Project

My students need more hands-on exploration! I want them to be able to build, manipulate, and explore with a variety of materials! I also want to provide easier access to manipulatives during our math block.

Creativity is the key to learning!

Worksheets are out the door!

Students will be able to use their imagination, be creative, and explore while building their fine motor skills! Using these materials will spark a new way of learning, allowing for more critical thinking.

I also want to ease our transition into learning groups by providing Math Tool-Kits that are readily available. These kits will stop the wasted time of passing out materials, it's done for us!

The Magnetic Sets and Brain Flakes Plastic Disc Set will allow for creative juices to begin flowing. These types of activities will sharpen cognitive skills that are so important to a child's development, while allowing for great fine motor practice.

The GeoBoards will be used during math centers to allow fine-motor practice along with developing language skills. The play-dough tool cutters will provide fine-motor practice during math centers. Each play material will be used in conjunction math activities to make learning more exciting and challenging!

The Stackable Pegs and Peg Board Set continue to allow for the strengthening of hand muscles during use. Strong hand muscles create better writers.

Our counting chips, bears, and cubes will aid in our math skills by providing manipulatives to use during addition and subtraction along with one-to-one counting.

Sensory exploration is a child's way of examining, discovering, categorizing and making sense of the world---worksheets don't lend themselves to this same degree of learning!
