This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Where have all the writing utensils gone? It's the second semester, and students' supplies seem to have been swept away in a tornado. While their materials might have landed in Oz, our home-sweet classrooms are in need of writing supplies. Students do and feel their best about classwork when they have the necessary tools. Because our program provides wrap-around support for some of our most vulnerable students, we offer supplies that students take and use in all their other classes. We teach organization, note-taking, annotating, close reading, and goal setting. We use pencils, different colored pens, highlighters, and colored pencils. We strive to build a culture of error--an environment in which we encourage mistakes as a valuable part of learning. Many students, must write in pen for certain assignments and always ask for white-out.

With your support, these basic writing supplies will help students conquer their fears of note-taking, annotating, and organizing.

Number 2 pencils are the most practical supply in any classroom. Students use (and lose) these daily. We will make these available daily. Mechanical pencils are in high demand. The convenience of lead refills, as opposed to pencil sharpeners, is a sought-after commodity for both students and teachers. Led pencils help students stay engaged in the learning process and prevent the sometimes disruptive sound of the sharpener. The 5-in-1 highlighters are sure to help students become star annotators. The 5-in-1 pens are sure to put a smile on students' faces, and anything that encourages students to write is a plus in the classroom. The correction tape will help our students develop resilience and build flexibility when mistakes occur. The 3-ring pouches will help keep all these essential supplies safe and organized. Help us provide the pens that we know are mightier than swords!
