See what Ms. Tindle is requestingMy students need basic writing utensils to help them succeed in school. Printer paper is desperately needed to create worksheets as supplementation for outdated textbooks. Each student will receive an issue of Time Magazine to analyze.

My students walk into the building every morning knowing that they are in a safe heaven. A place where they will be well taken care of, fed, and nourished mind, body, and soul by the dedicated teachers and staff that work here. Most of my students come from severely impoverished households within the lower Kensington area that is saturated with issues of substance abuse and violence. Many students lack basic supplies because their families are living in extreme poverty. In order to see them succeed, I buy them their supplies.
I cannot imagine waking up and going to school as carefree as most of these children do knowing the challenges that await at home.
However, I do understand that these students get up and come to school smiling because the school provides them with hope. We enrich their minds with literature, math, arts, and sciences. With what little resources we find, we manage to give them the power to dream big. By providing them with every tool possible, we enable those dreams to come true even in the face of great challenge.
My students need basic classroom supplies such as pencils, paper, and markers in order to successfully complete class assignments throughout the year. This year I will be teaching 3 social studies and science classes of 30 students each. The social studies books are very outdated and have no resources included to help aid instruction. My students would greatly benefit from the current information being provided in, "Kids Time Magazine." It will help them to gain interest in what's happening in the world around them as well as providing enrichment for their young minds. In addition, printer paper will be used to in order to supply carefully designed worksheets that align with their instruction as supplementation for outdated/insufficient informational materials. Students will be encouraged to come up to the board and interact within the lesson; supplying input using dry erase markers. Students will also use the markers on their persona small dry erase boards during group discussions/interactions.
