My Students

Our first graders have that spark! They are eager learners with bright, inquisitive minds, and have a natural ability to tackle academic challenges and inquire about the world around them.

This school is home to New York's talented and gifted children.

The student population is diverse in both its cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic status. Students come to Tag from all five boroughs of New York City to learn and grow together.

They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are inspirations to themselves and others around them. They are budding scientists, writers, ambassadors, entrepreneurs, teachers. They are our future and I want to help give them a great start.

My Project

I am requesting a chick egg incubator and brooder, along with all the necessary materials to raise chicks in the classroom. We will need an egg turner, a hydrometer, and a thermometer in order to provide the chick embryos with an optimal growing environment. I am also requesting an egg candler so students can get a firsthand view of the baby chicks growing inside their eggs. Once the hatchlings are born, they will be transferred to a warm and cozy brooder box for growing and feeding. This is most exciting (and the cutest) part! Students will get to see the chicks develop in their brooder box as they peck and peep away!

Hatching baby chicks will be a rewarding and enlightening project for my students.

It is not only a lesson in biology, but also a lesson in responsibility, animal care, and respect for living things. This project will give students an experience they will never forget!
