I teach at an inner-city school where I have a very diverse group of students. My classes have special education as well as English as a second language. They are not only educationally diverse but economically and socially diverse as well.
Each week, my students get to perform a cooking lab.
For many students, this is the highlight of their day.
My Project
If you have been around teenagers, then you know that they always seem to be hungry.
Help me provide peaches and pineapples as a snack for my hungry high school students.
My students love both of these individually and also in a smoothie. When you see 150 teenagers each and every day, we go through a lot of snacks very quickly.
I have a snack table that students can grab something quick to eat before class starts. The fact that peaches and pineapples are always healthy and nutritious is an added bonus.
More than half of students from low‑income households
