Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I can't wait to meet my eighteen energetic Pre-K scholars this new school year. I know my new scholars are going to be special individuals who are going to come into the classroom with eagerness and love for learning. My scholars are going to come in with open minds and hearts, and leaving with new friendships.

My Project

The materials that I am requesting for my scholars this school year will be for our Pre-K classroom "oasis." I already have an image of where and how our oasis will look like, and would like to walk you through it. With your help, most of the materials will go into the classroom library/peace corner. The Alphabet Nature area carpet, along with the Teardrop Beanbag seat and Space comfy pillows will be placed in the library area for a scholar(s) to gather when a "cool down" moment is needed. The Moods Emotions book set and puppets will be accessible for scholars in that area to identify how he/she is feeling by exploring the pictures in the books and for friends who may not know the right words to express themselves. The puppets can be used to hold and hug for self-soothing. Last but not least, the safe plastic baskets will hold drawing paper and writing tools for scholars to draw about their feelings, and the 5 minute sand timer to allow our young scholars to recollect their feelings and regulate in a safe and comfortable corner created.

The donations to this project will not only help me create this safe and comforting oasis, but help my scholars enjoy a space in our classroom they can go to after a year and a half of remote learning at home.

Scholars will be a part of a meaningful experience of exploration, buildng language, and friendships with the use of these materials. As their teacher, I have much years and experience of social/emotional education but still a life-long learner in continued learning in this development. Your support will help me and my scholars in creating this reality for our Pre-K classroom. Thanks so much!
